Dear Friends of AIS-R,
As you enter the American International School—Riyadh’s energized campus, you will be greeted by 60 colorful flags of the world waving in the soft desert wind, celebrating our 49 years of excellence in international education. At the same time, you will be captivated by our diverse expatriate community, engaged in the discourse of learning. Throughout its distinct history, AIS-R has enjoyed a solid reputation for rigorous academic standards, high achievement, innovative practices, and outstanding co-curricular programming. We are a proud mission-driven community of learners and leaders, immersed in an ethos of shared beliefs, values, and celebration.
Our mission commits us to excellence, and our vision challenges us to prepare learners for enriched opportunities ahead. As a 21st Century learning organization, we are dedicated to nurturing responsive, adaptive and motivated students through a dynamic, success-oriented educational program that is fortified through the AIS-R Eagle Honor Code. We proudly uphold full accreditation awarded by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS), and we are authorized to grant the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. As a result, AIS-R’s graduates readily matriculate to an array of the most prestigious colleges and universities worldwide.
The culture of learning at AIS-R — be it in the robotics or iMac labs, on the grass fields, through activity-rich classrooms, or in our purpose-built 550-seat performance theater — is a creative, active and memorable experience. We hire and retain exceptional educators who focus their energy and expertise on developing students holistically, and, therefore, foster the habits of mind that learners require to develop into responsible, caring and ethical world citizens.
Complimenting this learning context, AIS-R offers students an impressive array of co-curricular enrichment programs, including competitive sports (ISSL-R, SAIKAC, ISAC), global travel and intercultural experiences, performing and fine arts opportunities, cooperative and service-oriented clubs, and numerous special activities. From Kindergarten to Senior year, our AIS-R Eagles soar!
Whether reviewing our admissions booklet, pursuing our website, or walking through the “Avenue of Nations” on campus tomorrow, you will get a vivid sense of our genuine commitment and enthusiasm for the education of young people. We believe in our common purpose of learning and growing together. And, upon meeting our fantastic students and faculty, you will note that something unique is unfolding within this venerable learning oasis!
Learn With Us!
Dr. Brian Matthews
AIS-R Superintendent
As a school committed to excellence, we will educate and inspire our students to be responsible, productive and ethical world citizens with the skills and passion to think creatively, reason critically, communicate effectively and learn continuously. We will accomplish this in an American educational environment characterized by high measurable standards and a clearly defined, appropriately interrelated college preparatory curriculum, implemented by a superior staff in partnership with students, parents, and the community.
