Grade 2 serves students who have turned seven by October 1. As students become more independent in their learning, grade two builds on the basic literacy skills acquired in grade 1 and begins to expand thinking with more in depth writing and literature studies. We use the Everyday Math program which emphasizes problem solving and thinking skills. Science and social studies themes include maps, magnets, animal habitats, 'rocks, soil, and plants', 'earth, sun and moon', communities and cultures, and more. Each week students also attend Specialist classes in physical education, art, music, drama, library and computers.
