Grade 4 serves students who have turned 9 by October 1.  Teachers focus on reading using a balanced literacy approach.  A regularly scheduled Writer's Workshop approach gives students time to develop the important skill of writing.  We use the Everyday Math program, which emphasizes problem solving and thinking skills.  Science and Social Studies units include ecosystems, electricity, human body systems and geography.  Each week, students attend specialist classes in physical education, art, music, foreign language, Arabic culture, library and computer.
