Welcome to the official high school homepage for American International School - Riyadh.  We're a young and dynamic high school with an enrollment of 320 students in grades 9 through 12 -- small enough so everyone knows one another yet big enough to offer a full complement of courses, programs, and activities.   In addition to offering the U.S. diploma, we host the full International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.  Our graduates gain entry to some of the most competitive universities throughout the world.  Most importantly, our students love coming to school each morning and like to stay around at the end of the day.

And why not stay around after school?  There is something for everyone.  Computer labs are open; the library has extended hours.  Rehearsals for plays take place; practices for sports occur.  The band and orchestra rooms are always lively and so are science labs and art studios.  Because we believe in the importance of providing students with rich learning experiences, we provide them after school as well as during the day.  They take place formally during the school day and less formally after the school day ends, but they are the core of our work at AIS-R.  The learning extends beyond the classroom and we hope that it permeates a student's experience with us.

Our academic program, anchored by the full International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, offers a well-rounded and rigorous college preparatory education.  One hundred percent of our graduates participate in the IB Program at some level.  Roughly one-third of each senior class are full IB Diploma students.  Each year more than 80% of the students who attempt the Diploma successfully earn it.

Students who attend AIS-R benefit from its incredible resources.  Not only do they have access to IB academics, arts, athletics and activities, but they study in a technology rich environment.  Where access to and use of technology is concerned, AIS-R students have the very best.  Every classroom has a SmartBoard and wireless is available throughout the school.  In addition to computer labs, we have laptop carts for classes and we make it easy for students to bring their own laptops to school. Our teachers continue to move toward creating blended learning environments where each class includes classroom and online components.  Beginning next year we will be introducing an online class as a requirement for all freshmen.
