Physical activity is an important part of a student's overall education and well-being.  Physical education provides students with an opportunity to be active and to:

  • -gain knowledge
  • -develop skills and movement patterns
  • -compete and cooperate with peers in a safe and structured environment
  • -improve personal fitness
  • -participate in a variety of individual, partner and team activities
  • -acquire an understanding of the benefits of lifelong physical activity
  • -develop good sportsmanship

Physical Education at AIS-R is a participation subject in which student activity is emphasized.  Participation for all students, regardless of ability level or personal experience, is the major focus of the program.  Lessons and units are planned to help students increase their knowledge, skills and strategies in a positive, social setting.  Providing successful physical and emotional experiences for all students will enhance self-image and personal well-being.
