The Middle School Student Council is an elected group of students whose aim is to bring school spirit to the students of AIS-R. They organize activities to make coming to school more desirable; in other words - FUN! Activities include the very popular "Be My Butler Day," the "Middle School Talent Show", "Spirit Week," after school dances and hangouts, hosting new groups of parents and students, and taking part in "Family Fun Day." These activities also raise funds to "give back", allowing us to provide support to the Ethiopian School here in Riyadh. Included below are quotes from Student Council members: "Being in the student council has helped us in many ways. It has facilitated our leadership skills which are essential to being a student council member. We set an example for the rest of the middle school and feel like we should improve ourselves first. We are a lot more organized now than before we joined Student Council. This helps us in our daily lives and in the community." "We have a greater opportunity to being listened to by others, including those in a higher position than we are such as the principal and the student body. This improves our character, our confidence and increases our ability to speak in public. Overall, Student Council has made us better people." -Loulie Teimouri, Sita Al-Faisal, Saeed Arafeh, and Rachel Abastiallas |
