Grade 6 Social StudiesGrade 6 Social Studies focuses on ancient civilizations in the regions of Europe, Africa and the Americas. In particular, we study ancient Egypt, Mesoamerica, ancient Greece and ancient Rome. This study includes the examination of geographical, historical, economic, political and cultural relationships. In studying these wonderful civilizations we learn to research effectively by developing ideas, gathering and classifying information. We learn to research so that we may evaluate and organize our ideas and information. Grade 7 World GeographyThis course is an introduction to the global perspectives, basic concepts, and fundamental questions of geography. It provides a comprehensive and wide-ranging overview of the discipline of geography. Using the five themes of geography, students study the nine cultural regions found in the world today and how each is connected. Grade 8 American StudiesStudents in American Studies will develop a sense of historical time and perspective and use a working knowledge and understanding of significant individuals, groups, ideas, events, eras, and developments in the history of the United States, through the U.S. Civil War. Not only is this course a content rich class, but also one that challenges student's reading, writing and research skills. Finally, students will develop an understanding of the structure and purpose of the American democratic system, and the role of the United States in the world, while learning about the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. |
