High School Week Without Walls: February 22 – March 2In February, AIS-R will mark its second annual Week Without Walls experience. It provides opportunities for every High School student to participate in learning activities outside of the traditional classroom. All WWW activities are designed to directly support AIS-R's mission to “Educate and inspire our students to be responsible, productive, and ethical world citizens” and that of the International Baccalaureate Organization. Here is a brief summary of each grade level’s WWW plan: Grade 12IB Mock Exams are the educational focus of WWW for the Seniors. The Mock Exams will count as the second semester final exam for Seniors and replicate the IB testing environment and experience. Just like during IB Exams in May, students may take as many as three exams a day and will come to school for exams and depart school when finished. Grade 11Learning about careers is the educational focus of WWW for the Juniors. Juniors will be required to participate in an internship. The last day of the week will be set aside for coming to campus to share what they have learned and participate in career activities. (A limited number of Juniors who have not previously participated in a Habitat Club service trip to the Philippines will have the option of participating in a service project during WWW. See Grade 10 below.) Grade 10Community service is the educational focus of WWW for the Sophomores. There are four projects from which they can choose. Three involve traveling to places such as Philippines, Ghana, and China. The fourth project will provide our students with a community service experience in Riyadh where they will work with local organizations, orphanages, hospitals, schools, etc. Grade 9Team building, higher-order thinking skills, problem-solving strategies, and skills for collaborating with others is the educational focus of WWW for Freshmen. Their week will begin on campus with the possibility of venturing out to the desert at the end of the week. Students will participate in groups and take part in fun, challenging and educational activities. More information about all of our WWW programs will be provided in the weeks to come.
