Philosophy:

The philosophy of the AIS-R Library has three areas of focus:  Literature, Information Literacy and the Library as an Intellectual Hub.

Literature: We believe it is important to create a sense of wonder about scholarship, books and reading.  Once learned, this gift will serve our students in their lives beyond AIS-R.  Turning kids into lifelong readers and lovers of literature has always been the sacrosanct role of librarians and is alive and well in our libraries.

Information Literacy: It is our job to make sure students know how to use appropriate electronics as well as text based research tools to succeed in their use of ideas and information.  They must know that information alone is not knowledge or wisdom.  To that end, the library media program ensures that students "are effective users of ideas and information." Information Power (ALA, 1998)

The Library as an Intellectual Hub: During the time students spend in the AIS-R libraries, they will learn to appreciate and value the library as a place of eminent importance to them not only in their educational lives, but in everything they do as long as they live.

Hours:

The HS/MS library is open from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  On Mondays, the library is closed for faculty meetings after school.  These hours are altered during Ramadan.

The Elementary library is open from 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Saturday through Wednesday.  These hours are altered during Ramadan.

Resources:

Combined, the libraries have over 47 000 items and we subscribe to over 50 different magazine titles.  In addition, we have access to over 16 online research databases.

Circulation Policy for Parents:

Parents are welcome to sign up for a family account good for up to 10 checkouts for a two week loan period. This total of 10 checkouts for the family account is in addition to what students may borrow. During school holiday breaks of one week or more the borrowing limit is increased to 15 for the family account..

On our website, located at http://library.ais-r.edu.sa/ you will find access to both divisions' catalogs.  On Moodle you will find helpful links to websites, databases and tools arranged by subject, the library vision, and recommended reading lists.

Services:

The library staff is available throughout the school year to assist you in understanding better what resources we have to offer and how to use them. In addition, the library holds special events and activities throughout the school year such as author visits, book fairs, and book promotions.. Contact the library for more information:
