AIS-R's History
A Legacy Built Over Decades
2020s
AIS-R completed its re-accreditation cycle with the CIS Team Evalulation/NEASC ACE External Visit being hosted virtually in November of 2020 and a five year re-accreditation status was awarded to AIS-R by both agencies in January 2021. During the 2020-2021 academic year, AIS-R experienced a campus closure that began in March 2020 and continued until September 2021 (with Elementary School students continuing online until January 2022) as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic. With schools across the Kingdom entering into a year-long virtual learning process, AIS-R maintained its commitment to student learning by developing a distance learning model that remained true to our mission and preserved our high-impact learning program. A dynamic, flexible and engaging distance learning program was offered to all K-12 learners despite the challenges of the time, a testament to the resilience and dedication of our leaders, educators, and most importantly, our AIS-R Eagles.
In the spring of 2022, AIS-R announced its new strategic plan to the community after concluding a nine month collaborative planning process involving a diverse group of AIS-R stakeholders. Together with the school’s new strategic objectives, AIS-R rewrote and released its new Mission statement: “Together, we cultivate inquisitive, independent, and resilient learners who inspire positive change in their communities.” This new AIS-R Mission and five year plan will guide the next chapter of AIS-R’s story.
In 2023, AIS-R proudly celebrated its 60th anniversary, commemorating six decades of excellence in education. The school remains committed to fostering community and nurturing global citizenship. As part of this milestone, we launched new alumni channels and offered our alumni more ways to connect through events around the globe.
Over the years, AIS-R has embraced Saudi Arabia’s development and vision, while maintaining a focus on high-quality academics, social-emotional learning, and a wide range of extracurricular offerings, including collaborations with external service providers and expanding opportunities for students to engage in real-world experiences both locally and internationally. Around this time, AIS-R introduced the theme Where We Belong, which earned the school first place in Saudi Arabia for diversity in the workplace. This theme continues to guide us today, shaping our workforce and our diverse community of learners, and is central to what makes AIS-R special.
