College Counseling
College counseling is an important feature of school life at AIS-R. In a very real sense, college counseling begins as soon as a student enters our high school. Counselors help our students, in grades 11 and 12 in particular, choose an appropriately challenging schedule based on taking either the IB Diploma or a combination of IB and non-IB courses. We advise students on co-curricular activities, service learning goals and standardized tests as they are offered at AIS-R throughout the year. SAT Tests, activities and courses all play an important role in the college admission process. The college search and application process is a journey of self-discovery for our students who will learn to assess their university needs, skills, interests and long term objectives.
During the counseling process students will be coached on how to create a well-balanced list of colleges which offers a suitable match to their academic and co-curricular objectives at university. All of our students will be encouraged to construct noteworthy applications which accurately convey individual strengths, interests and their own unique character. We encourage our students to focus on applying to universities which reflect the best “fit” that truly represents the right academic focus for our graduates. Ultimately, students will work with us to explore and find schools which will match one’s distinct learning needs and aspirations.
